MCLEAN, Feb. 17 -Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is pleased to announce the selection of one of the company's employees, Wilbur "Wil" Myrick, Ph.D., for the career achievement in industry award given out at the Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) Conference.
Myrick, who received his Ph.D. from The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University in 2000, performs work that focuses on advanced algorithm development and evaluation in the areas of communications and radar systems. He develops signal and image processing algorithms to support the development of a wide range of applications and researches new techniques for working with remote sensing data. Myrick is also credited with inventing a processing architecture used in one of SAIC's major defense programs, and undertaking research which led to the invention of a processor for signal extraction and improvements to an algorithm used for signal processing.
"Wil is one of our brightest and most innovative young engineers," said Jurgen Gobien, general manager of SAIC's Technology Research and Integration Business Unit. "He has made major contributions in dealing with some of the nation's most important security problems."
Myrick and other Black Engineer of the Year award winners will be honored this Saturday, February 18th, at an event at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Md.
