- Pioneering Organization for Business Women Set to Celebrate
10th Anniversary of Hall of Fame Program -
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 4 -WITI (Women in Technology International), the nation's leading professional organization for tech-savvy women, is proud to announce a preliminary schedule of top-level professional women from companies such as Google, IBM, Intel and HP, that will be sharing their experiences and insights at its annual, two-day conference.
The conference will feature a wide array of sessions ranging from technical, professional development to current economic and workplace trends. Barbara Annis will lead a lively discussion of "Same Words, Different Language," while Margaret Heffernan will strategize on "How Women Can Win in the (Tech) Marketplace." Nora Denzel, senior vice president and general manager of HP's Software Global Business Unit, will be one of the featured speakers for a discussion entitled the "Top 10 Ways Women Shoot Themselves In the Workplace."
The theme of this year's conference, "Taking the Lead ... in the Digital Age," will take place December 8 and 9 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose. This is WITI's single largest event of the year where women can exchange ideas and opportunities with innovative decision-makers from both established and emerging companies.
"The response to this year's conference is record-breaking," said Carolyn Leighton, CEO, chairwoman and founder of WITI. "As technology constantly evolves, so does the interest and content for WITI's events. We strive to bring the best knowledge, experience and creativity together in a forum that will provide our members and special guests an unparalleled professional experience."
Leighton credits the 10th Anniversary of WITI's annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony as a major influence behind the increased awareness and interest in this year's event. WITI 's Hall of Fame is considered the most prestigious award given to women who have made significant contributions in the fields of science and technology. In celebration of its tenth year anniversary, this year's event will honor the 2005 recipients and past inductees. Previous winners include: Carol Bartz, long-time CEO of AutoDesk; Dr. Anita Borg, the founder of the Institute for Women and Technology and XEROX PARC researcher; Ruth Leach Amonette, the first-ever female Vice President of IBM; and the ENIAC programming team, the groundbreaking, six woman team appointed by the U.S. Army during World War II to program the first all-electronic digital computer.
Also at this year's event, WITI and leading technology industry analyst firm International Data Corporation (IDC) have again joined forces to conduct new research that explores the cross-section of technology and women's buying preferences and habits. For the very first time, WITI and IDC will be introducing its 2005 Holiday Scorecard, which will examine the technologies women are buying this holiday season and who they are buying them for.
As of September 1, confirmed conference sponsors and partners include: Agilent, Bernard Hodes, eBay, EMC, IBM, Intel, Qualcomm, Raytheon, Ruder Finn, Skype, Sun, Texas Instruments, TKL, and WIPP.
